Wilson A. Bentley Photomicrograph

$1,800.00

Original snowflake photomicrograph by Wilson A. Bentley.

Wilson A. Bentley (1865–1931), from Jericho, VT was the first to photograph individual snowflakes using photomicrography, capturing over 5,000 unique images and proving no two snowflakes are identical. His groundbreaking work, published in the 1931 book Snow Crystals, remains a cornerstone in meteorology and art.

This example is available along with 3 others and comes with astounding provenance; a letter from the great-granddaughter of Reverend Henry Crocker, a friend and collector of Bentley’s work who “discovered” his work by submitting his work to scientific publications.

Measures: 10.5” x 10.5” frames
