A very rare and special piece of Hermes. Made in the 1930s as a unique 1/1 custom commission in sterling silver, this incredibly luxurious take on a lampe berger is about as rare as it can get from Hermes.

A Lampe Berger is a French-designed catalytic lamp that purifies and fragrances the air. Unlike traditional candles or air fresheners that simply mask odors with heavy perfume, a Lampe Berger actually destroys odor-causing molecules through a high-temperature catalytic combustion process.

How to use:

  1. Fill the Lamp: Fill the vessel about 2/3 full with official Maison Berger fluid (a mix of isopropyl alcohol and fragrance oils).

  2. Soak the Wick: If it’s a new lamp or a dry wick, let it soak in the fluid for about 20 minutes with the stopper cap on.

  3. Light It: Remove the stopper cap, light the ceramic burner with a match or lighter, and let an open flame burn for exactly 2 minutes.

  4. Blow It Out: Blow out the flame. The burner will now look dark, but it will intensely glow/radiate heat. This means the catalytic process has started.

  5. Put on the Vented Cap: Place the decorative, open-vented cap over the hot burner.

  6. Leave it to purify and scent the room. It only takes about 20 minutes of operation per 100 square feet to completely clear and scent a space.

  7. Extinguish: To stop it, put the solid stopper cap back over the burner to cut off the oxygen.
